I find making friends on the internet a lot easier in real life, mostly because when you first meet them, you can get the awkward introductions out of the way through texting. But most of the time, (like 30% of the time) the friends I make online will be in a Skype call with me for a few hours, and then after 2 or 3 days, they'll get quiet and never reply to my messages.
I'm a very silly and optimistic person who loves to laugh and make others laugh, but I'm pretty sensitive and I get pretty down when this happens. I once even had a panic attack over my friend who I thought died because she stopped responding. (Found out later her internet was just down. So it was alright)
But it's still pretty upsetting when they stop responding. At least in real life you have no choice in seeing the person. On the internet, it's easier to hide from that certain someone... (*coughcoughMEcoughcough*)
